PCB keychains

Custom-designed PCBs turned into keychains — wearable hardware you carry every day.

A PCB doesn’t have to do anything to be worth making.

These keychains are custom-designed printed circuit boards — real FR4 with copper traces, silkscreen, soldermask — shaped, finished, and put on a keyring. No components, no power, no function beyond looking exactly like what they are: a tiny piece of hardware you carry around.

designs

Every keychain starts as a PCB layout. The silkscreen and copper layers become the art. The board shape is the canvas.

Makers Colombia — rectangular board with gear logo. One of the first runs, made for the Colombian maker community.

DEF CON 2022, Las Vegas — circular boards in black soldermask with gold ENIG finish. Skull and crossbones + event logo. Made for the DEF CON hacker conference. These showed what the circular form factor could do.

UniAndinos — custom run for Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá. Circular, black and gold, “#SoyEmprendedorUniandino”. Client work — organization provides the design brief, I handle fabrication.

DeepSea Developments — octopus logo, circular. Internal / studio keychains.

the gold version

The standout finish is ENIG (Electroless Nickel Immersion Gold) on black soldermask. The gold traces pop hard against the black. It’s the same finish used on high-reliability PCBs — here it just makes them look good.

Available colors (soldermask): Black, Green, Purple, Red, Yellow, White, Blue.

how they’re made

Designed in KiCad. Fabricated at JLCPCB or PCBWay depending on the run. Circular boards need a custom board outline in the design — the fab cuts to shape. Minimum order quantities mean most runs are 20–50 units.
